An award winning company, specialising in the development of innovative solutions for transmissions and driveline systems. In addition to their market leading software systems, our client is focused on providing engineering services for the design, development and refinement of transmissions and drivelines for automotive, off-highway vehicles, wind turbines and industrial drive applications.

They are looking for a Business Development Manager for simulation softward. The role is to assist the Global sales and business development for Automotive/ Transport teams and assist in the development of new business in Defence and Aerospace sectors across Europe.

The role will include:

  • Assisting in the sales and business development for the worldwide regional office (Nottingham) in line with projected targets.
  • Development of Blue-Chip accounts in the new business areas (Defence and Aerospace sectors across Europe e.g. BAE Systems, etc and development and growth of new markets e.g. Russia, Brazil.
  • Be active in Market Research for all sectors and countries, seeking funding opportunities where available.
  • Writing proposals with support from technical specialists.
  • Visit customers to discuss possible projects and software developments and deliver customer sales presentations.
  • Liaise with customers to report project progress/issues etc.
  • Arrange regular updates to customers through road shows/workshops/seminars within market segments
  • Support regional sales request making proposals, commercial presentations, documentations
  • Educate the regional team for the new product and the new business
  • Support divisional director for the commercial administration

    Qualifications and Specific Technical Skills
  • 2:1 Degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, perhaps post-graduate qualified. Preferably chartered status. And possessing second language skills would be ideal.

    Essential experience:
  • 5+ Years Experience in Business Development in a similar sector/geographies.
  • Strong customer facing skills developed from a minimum of 5 years account management.
  • Proven track record of growing key accounts and new business through pro-active customer management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Established and proven track record in commercial, sales and marketing.
  • Consultancy Skills
  • Project Management experience
  • Presentation experience.
  • Experience of dealing with large multi discipline corporations.
  • Sensitive to cultural diversities and ability to communicate and deal with all nationalities.
