Senior Measurement Engineer
Derby, Derbyshire, England

The Company is a world leader in fluid technologies that improve the quality and performance of their customers` products in the global transportation, industrial and consumer markets.

Based at their European Technical centre, they are looking to appoint a Senior Measurement Engineer who will be responsible for managing measurement and calibration processes using computer driven measurement systems.

Main Accountabilities will include:

  • Act as a design authority for measurement systems and equipment to continuously improve, develop and implement technical solutions for the sites measurement systems.
  • Manage/Lead a team of Measurement Specialists
  • Manage and prioritise work flow to meet Testing Laboratory demands.
  • Maintain all measurements systems and calibration processes in accordance with ISO17025 ISO9001
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal customers to ensure their current and future measurement needs are met.
  • Ensure all measurement systems employed meet the customer requirements in terms of accuracy, reliability and cost effectiveness.
  • Represent the Company at both internal and external meetings where necessary.
  • Where necessary calculate measurement uncertainty budgets for the calibration processes employed
  • Responsible for compliance with legal and/or other protocols relevant to the role

    REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERTISE
  • Educated to degree level in Electrical/Electronic Engineering/Physics or another relevant discipline
  • Detailed knowledge of measurement and calibration with regard to engineering theory, design, installation, calibration and maintenance to computer driven measurement systems.
  • Experience of managing and calibration processes, including the calculation of measurement uncertainty budgets
  • Project Management experience
  • In depth knowledge of ISO 17025 and ISO9001 would be an advantage
  • Experience of developing successful working relationships with internal and external customers/suppliers
  • Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous
  • Knowledge on a variety measurement systems including, temperature, pressure, flow, torque, dimensional, force, viscosity, density and automotive gaseous and particulate emissions.
  • Competent user of computer database and spreadsheet packages.
  • Experience of work within UKAS environment is desirable
