A centre of excellence for vehicle engineering based on a very attractive university campus in Coventry, commutable from Birmingham, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Solihull, Leicester, Warwick, Redditch, Bromsgrove. Dedicated to engineering excellence this Consultancy leads in the development of cutting edge vehicle technologies. Established in the UK for 6 years its continuing success has created an opportunity for a talented Body and Exterior Systems Engineer to join the team.

This position is graded at Lead Engineer and reports into the Chief Engineer. The main activities and tasks will include:

  • Lead the development of Body and Exterior Systems of a new vehicle variant including BIW, closures hardware, exterior trim from clay model feasibility to production release and on to vehicle launch.
  • Manage cross-functional design reviews to solve critical project issues.
  • Delivery will be achieved using a multi-functional team including staff, contract and supplier resource.
  • Interface with the customer to ensure the project milestones and gateways are met and delivered.
  • Generate internal project timing and resource plans to meet customer milestones and or gateways.
  • Based in Coventry, there will be a need for occasional over seas travel.
    Candidate requirements.
  • Degree or similar qualification, likely to be Chartered.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Ability to overcome cultural barriers.
  • Management background, able to lead large teams of Engineer.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Body and Exterior engineering lead role.
  • Minimum of 10 years Automotive industry experience.
