Our client is a leading prestige automotive manufacturer who are currently seeking to recruit a Chemist on a 9-month contract basis.

The individual will be required to deliver project and laboratory activities within CoC Chemistry topics as dictated by business requirements and production needs.

There will also be opportunity to be involved in ad hoc investigations on engine issues, with approximately 90% of the time will be quality related with 10% on environmental testing.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Ensure that materials technology and related production processes all adhere to policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure that all materials related problems and issues are resolved and prevented through continuous improvement.
- Monitoring condition of machined parts, Cutting and Wash fluids (including microbiology).
- Monitoring condition of engine oil, hydraulic oil and other engine related fluids (including particle/contamination testing).
- Environmental testing of site water.
- Ensure that appropriate levels (best practice) of support are delivered to technology partners and colleagues and documentation is maintained.
- Ensure compliance to ISO 9001 and 14000.
- Ensure continuous development of lab investigation methods and appropriate materials and process support for product projects in the plant.
- Ensure that appropriate materials related activities are robustly communicated to drive improvements in the quality performance of the company.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Qualified to NVQ Level 5 or degree level in an appropriate Chemistry or Chemical Production related field or relevant experience in a Chemical Laboratory Environment.
- Very good Communication and presentation skills.
- High degree of self motivation and reliability essential.
- German Language skills preferred
- Good IT skills essential.
- Leadership ability, flexible attitude.
- Capable of working alone or in a multi functional team.
- In depth knowledge of problem resolution techniques and / or project management.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and Environmental impacts.
- Membership of a professional institution is desirable.
- Experience with ICP, FTIR, Auto titration and other typical analytical equipment would be required.
