Principal Engineer - Steering Systems
Solihull, West Midlands, England
Our client is a major automotive component supplier manufactures high integrity, engineered, electro-mechanical systems. With strong vision and investment plans, and an excellent order book, they now seek to appoint a Principal Steering Systems Engineer on a permanent basis in Solihull.
As the Principal Steering Systems Engineer for Intermediate Shafts, you will head the development of I-shafts from concept through to launch in close cooperation with our suppliers. In this role you will lead a team of project engineers as well as:
* Requirements Capturing: Working with customer teams to capture and flow-down vehicle manufacturer specifications to component level
* Product Design and Development: Leading a team of qualified engineers and cooperating with Global component suppliers to generate market-leading innovative solutions
* Design Validation and Release: Compile comprehensive validation plans for design release into customer application programmes
* Innovation: Identify future trends and technologies to maintain market competitiveness
Applicants are required to have the following experience:
Essential:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Experience in product development in automotive industry
* Self motivated and able to work without direct supervision
* Willing to travel globally
* Strong supplier facing skills
Desirable:
* Second European language
