Our client manufacturers pressed parts for the construction industry.

The Stock Controller reports to the Warehouse and Distribution Manager.

The job of stock control

1. Understand the product range
• Within the categories, what the products are
• What the products do
• What sizes the products are available in

2. Understand demand levels for products
• Fast moving items
• Medium speed
• Slow moving items

3. Manager the correct stock holding levels
• Set and monitor min.max levels
• Base this on historic levels (for trends/patterns) and forecast levels (for volumes)
• Understand lead times and re-order quantities
• Liaise closely with sales and production internally and factored goods' suppliers to ensure supply of goods can meet likely requirements

4. Organise the warehouse
• Where stock is
• What stock is
• Book it in
• Book it out
• Record all scrap

5. Be in control of stock
• Stock takes twice a year
• Rolling stock counts

6. Ensure good administration
• Ensure accurate booking in from factory
• Check incoming deliveries from outside suppliers (including inter-company)
• Keep up to date with purchase orders/requisitions, receipts, credit notes, return notes etc
