Our client is a world-leader in the provision of project management, technical engineering and construction services to the Water industry, on programs ranging from Water Supply, Treatment and Storage to Water Resources Management and Coastal Restoration. They are currently looking to appoint a Mechanical Project Engineer at their Tyne and Wear office on a contract basis.

As Mechanical Project Engineer - Water / Waste Water Treatment Plant, you will assist the Project / Construction Manager in co-ordinating an effective and economic plant design and procurement strategy, ensuring information is issued in time to enable construction, commissioning and putting to work in line with the Contract Programme, providing cost data for forecasts and evaluation of variations.

You will have responsibility for:
- Improve forecasting, and ensure project costs do not exceed tender/varied allowance
- Ensure all applications for payment are made on or before the due date
- Ensure applications are maximised to ensure an optimum cash flow
- Ensure contract reviews, monthly forecasts are completed and submitted on time
- Maintain good client relationships at all levels
- Ensure projects are completed on time, target
- Assist with the Project Management strategy
- Deputise for the Project / Construction Manager as and when required
- Assist in co-ordinating the involvement of internal service departments
- Assist in the periodic monitoring of performance
- Establish and maintain the contract filing systems
- Establish and maintain contract change systems
- Maintain register of contract variations

Applicants must be Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering with prior experience in the Water/Wastewater industry or other Process Plants.

The salary on offer for this position is up to £50,000 per annum + package, or alternatively contract rates from £30-£40 per hour depending upon experience. If you are interested in this position, please forward your CV as soon as possible.
