Cost Estimator/Cost Engineer

Our automotive client is a market leader in luxury and high volume off-road vehicles, designing and manufacturing in the Midlands.
Focussing on a specific vehicle commodity - from Exterior to Interior, through Power Train, Chassis, and Electrical you will be responsible for delivering Should Cost estimates for a specific sub-set of parts. Your varied duties will call for you to support the Purchasing Team in their negotiations with suppliers and work with Design Engineers.
Bringing valued expertise to the decision making process, you will act as a business advisor, identifying and supporting the implementation of cost reduction opportunities. You will influence relevant programmes and commodity directions and support cross-functional, cross-brand and supplier charge outs.
You will need to demonstrate a range of relevant manufacturing process knowledge, together with technical awareness at both the production process and cost driver level. You will have either a degree / professional qualification or an equivalent level of experience. Excellent communication skills are vital, together with a proven ability to think on your feet and make appropriate decisions. Ideally, you will also have some experience of project management.
