We are recruiting for a Material Planner on an ongoing basis in Leicester.
As Material Planner, you will report into the Strategic Planning Supervisor and will ensure that the correct parts/materials are ordered and received in time and in sufficient quantities to support after market parts requirements, while maintaining accurate and proper inventory levels.
Working within a Product focused team, the Material Planner has the following major responsibilities:-
* Initiate, co-ordinate and participate in activities to ensure optimum inventory levels
* Ensure that material requirements are scheduled for delivery from suppliers in a quantity and on a date to support our service to clients
* Ensure that deliveries take place on the correct date, in the correct containers, in the quantity specified
* Manage and control inventory levels for outgoing parts
* Be involved with, as necessary, the scheduling and control of onward ship material
* Make regular contact with suppliers primarily via the telephone and email expediting material identified on the Delivery Schedules . Contact is not limited to the above as supplier visits will be necessary
* Required to work closely with UK and foreign suppliers, inventory management, commercial, transportation, and customer support in order to minimise problems affecting deliveries
Applicants are required to have the following skills and experience:
* Requires prior experience in or knowledge of planning, scheduling, inventory control and/or purchasing
* Must have effective communication skills, sound judgement, persistence, high work standards, solid accountability, and strong computer skills are essential.
* Knowledge of SAP is a plus, but not required
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills
* Ideally possess a technical or commercial qualification
* Experience in Logistics
* Ability to work well in a team environment
* Self motivated with good attention to detail
