A Mechanical Project Engineer / Manager is required to work on contract for our large automotive client based in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

Position Description:
Mechanical Project Engineer / Manager, with a proven background in bracket design, tooling and manufacture. Electrical Component Mounting Systems is responsible for the design, development and release of any interface part that is deemed necessary to mount an electrical component(s) to the vehicle. Typically these parts are brackets, manufactured either from steel, aluminium or plastic. The role also includes bracket avoidance (influencing other Product Development areas to facilitate direct mounting), as well as end-item fixing / complexity reduction and the management of production and prototype suppliers.
Job Requirements
Skills Required:
Project management skills. Experience of bracket design, tooling and manufacture. Good communication and presentation skills to all levels. Operate a regular Programmme Management meeting with all key stakeholders to ensure timing, cost, weight and quality targets are delivered. Data analysis and PC skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Good team player, who is self motivated to deliver good quality products, under the minimum of supervision. Project management of bracket component designs from concept through to production. Work closely with Electrical CAD Integration and Manufacturing to develop mature concept designs. Confirm through Design Review all interfaces and understood and signed off Management of both virtual and physical durability testing (CAE and rigs/vehicle respectively). Work with Purchase to nominate the most appropriate supplier (TA, CAD SOW, cost packs, RFQs etc). Supplier coordination and liaison, including the maturation of the 3D CAD model through to production detail and 2D drawing creation.

Skills Preferred:
Catia v5 geometry authoring tools experience. Experienced in VisMockup. Experience and knowledge of OEM change management and release processes (RFQ, PACN, WERS, AIMS, eFDVS, APQP and PSW). Experience of problem solving tools.
Experience Required:
Extensive bracket design and tooling experience. Extensive mechanical automotive product design experience (e.g. Body Engineering, BIW, Chassis, Trim etc). Experience forming parts from sheet steel, aluminium and plastic injection mouldings.
Education Required:
Engineering HNC or HND
Education Preferred:
Engineering Degree
