Principal Design Engineer
Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
£38k - 48k per year + Bonus
Based at our clients major manufacturing facility and due to growth plans they are now looking for a Principal Design Engineer to join the team, as such we welcome applications who meet the criteria below:
Provide design leadership for Warranty Reduction, Product Tailoring, Product Introduction/Improvement and Cost Reduction
Design, analysis, development and optimisation of engine systems/assemblies/components
To support and develop initiatives to maintain and improve design processes and drawing quality
To train and support less experienced designers
Technical Leadership, management and planning of Design aspects on projects, including co-ordination of resources
- ProEngineer CAD software expertise
- Extensive knowledge and experience of compression and spark ignition engines, engine system and component level design
- Ability to create design concepts from first principles / clean sheet, through to detail drawings with supporting documentation
- Extensive machining / manufacturing process knowledge
- Design Analysis, Load/stress calculation
- Leadership of others and collaborative working within cross-functional teams to meet targets and deadlines
- Technical responsibility and direction for engine or sub-system architecture
