Senior Electronics Development Engineer

Our client is one of the world`s largest companies in the field of electrical variable speed drives. The organisation designs and manufactures a very broad range of Electrical Variable Speed Drives embracing AC and DC technologies from 100W to more than 1MW. These drives are marketed throughout the world through a distribution network.
This role is based in the Powys, close to the M54 and is commutable from Telford, Shrewsbury and Welshpool.
You will be responsible for Drive Design projects across all disciplines in producing a range of products to replace current Drives being manufacture today, to include:
Basic control of a.c. motors using a voltage source inverter
Application of motor drives
Embedded software design preferably in OEM target hardware
To design and develop analogue/digital/power electronic circuits and systems for real time electronics and industrial automation projects
To implement designs which conform to international standards and functional requirements
To implement designs, personally, and through other team members, which meet agreed functional design requirements
Utilisation of 8/16/32 bit microcontrollers and DSP s and associated hardware
Implement and verify designs which meet the agreed functional design specifications, whilst satisfying agreed necessary conditions for quality, reliability, manufacturability and cost
Document designs for record keeping and peer review
interface with external suppliers.
Working to agreed timescales and project plans.
Essential Requirements:
MEng if 5+ yrs experience, BEng BSc if 10yrs+ both groups must have 2.i or 1st degree result
Qualification must be in Electronics (ideally EandE) and ideally post grad too.
C and C++ programming with direct experience of embedded software programming.
Has direct experience of analogue and digital Power Electronic Circuits (schematic test at interview)
Experience with Industrial Drives with direct experience of them in design environment. This will be with induction motors and/or servo drives and include control systems analysis work.
A good understanding of motion control with practical experience on industrial applications.
Knows the structure of microcontrollers and can understand and debug at assembly code level
Strong theoretical and practical design skills.
An understanding of basic control theory.
