Our client acquires, develops and applies new ideas and improved components to support their customer s products. They also offer design, development, manufacture and software services and products to the aerospace, space, energy and transport industries.

As Manufacturing / Procurement Engineer essentially you will have a proven track record of procurement in an engineering environment, ideally in the aerospace industry with a good knowledge of purchasing and accounting practices and contract law.

Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Work closely with the test rig engineering team, advising on manufacturability. Source and technically audit suitable manufacturing suppliers, ensuring that appropriate manufacturing methods are employed. Place and expedite purchase orders against agreed plans. Co-ordinate concessions and provide technical/manufacturing trouble-shooting
- Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers including charge rates with subcontractors and agencies. Support the day-to-day purchasing requirements associated with the provision of facilities and services for an engineering office
- Maintain the supplier database, managing the supplier approval and score card processes and overseeing the administration of the purchasing system
- Provide support to the Principal Buyer at the ITP factory at Lincoln as and when required, covering raw material and subcontract manufacture / processing, general purchasing
The ideal person will have a degree or HND in mechanical engineering, and excellent knowledge of general manufacturing processes associated with high value, high integrity parts including prototypes.

Experience in contract negotiations and conducting supplier performance audits will be required.
