Mechanical Design & Development Manager - Auxiliary Drives
Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England
A rapidly expanding company based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire is currently seeking to expand its Design and Development team. The company is involved in the design and manufacture of vehicle systems and interface components and currently exports globally to 22 countries with plans to open two new development centres in mainland Europe and the USA. This role will appeal to a suitably qualified mechanical or electrical engineer based in Shrewsbury, commutable from Telford, Bridgnorth, Wolverhampton, Stafford, Oswestry, Welshpool, Whitchurch, Market Drayton.
The successful candidate will lead a design and development team of engineers working on automotive drive train and Front End Auxiliary Drive (FEAD) systems for LCV, HGV and PSV applications. As a Senior Staff Member, the role will also have a focus on Project Management and team development.
Candidates must have depth of experience in Mechanical / Electrical design with a good understanding of a 3D design package such as Solidworks. An appreciation or understanding of vehicle electrics and mechanical assembly or repair of vehicles would be beneficial. Training in all aspects of Auxiliary drive design and development will be given
Candidates should possess several of the following:
- Degree or similar qualification in an Engineering subject
- Team management experience
- An appreciation of a 3D CAD system, ideally Solidworks
- An appreciation of FEA and CFD analysis techniques
- An understanding of FEAD
- A passion for new product development and manufacture
- Possess excellent communication skills, plus collaboration skills and able to develop excellent client working relations.
