Weld Shift Manager
Kaizen
- Personally challenge fixed ideas, current methods and look for ways to make improvement using the company standard tools.
- Ensure that Cell Leaders in your area are process experts and can do the jobs in your area and train others to do them.
- Communicate successful improvement ideas across areas accessing support from other functions where necessary.
- Collate and analyse data to resolve the biggest problems in your area. Support and coach CL’s to do the same.
Management
- Report shift performance to target with root cause assessment and countermeasure in a timely manner – data based.
- You drive your team to maintain and improve 5S/TPM condition of the area
- Continuously check and confirm the status of your production associates, processes and reports throughout the shift using DKM.
- Understand and effectively utilise relevant company policies and procedures.
- Ensure effective, relevant, timely and appropriate communications at all levels and across the business.
- Ensure team briefs happen every shift and covers health and safety, environment, quality 5S/TPM, absence, targets.
- Challenge non-conformance appropriately and in a timely manner.
- People are used appropriately to cover absence, holiday and training requirements. Resource issues are escalated and resolution may involve Cell Leaders temporarily covering the process.
- Training needs are identified, planned for and resourced.
- Ensure effective induction into the area.
- Recognise and deal with appropriately with the different needs of associates.
- Recognise and develop potential within your area.
- Ensure effective recruitment and selection.

- Cell Changeover Time
- RFT / Scrap
- Sequence achievement and adherence
- Overtime and absence control.
- Accidents/incidents per month.
- DKM compliance
- TS16949 Systems/audit compliance

Knowledge and Experience for role (Essential)
- Previous Departmental/shift leadership experience in a high pressure environment.
- Planning and organisation of resources/workloads.
- Team organisation and management experience.
- Technical experience of robotic welding and practical load balancing.
- Able to demonstrate use of problem solving techniques and lean tools.
- Concern/countermeasure management experience.
- Knowledge and experience of Health & Safety legislation and requirements.
- Knowledge of SPC/quality tools
Skills
- Excellent team working and man management skills
- Analytical thinking and assessment skills.
- Presentation and effective communication skills.
- Able to challenge ideas positively and constructively.
- Strong communicator, control of meetings.
- Ability to use Excel and other Applications
