Controls Engineer - SCADA

£25k - 35k per year
Purpose:
A hands on role providing electrical installation, commissioning and control system programming of automotive test systems and a range of bespoke instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
Key Accountabilities:
- To provide electrical control and instrumentation expertise in the development of automotive test systems. Specifically working on PC and PLC based control systems to achieve the PID control and data acquisition requirements across a range of applications.
- To ensure electrical installation and control system development complies to specification and current legislation, whilst ensuring completion to time and cost.
- To provide a maintenance service of technical and engineering support for the control, building management systems and electrical infrastructure associated with the test facility and site.
- To ensure a minimum amount of downtime in the event of a failure / breakdown and to contribute to preventative maintenance programs. Actively seek to improve efficiency and productivity of test installations, with a view of employing a standard approach to software and control, whilst maintaining cost efficiencies.
Required Expertise / Knowledge / Skills:
- HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Completed a recognised Apprenticeship with 3 years post apprenticeship industrial experience.
- Experience of Automation and Control System Programming preferred
- Experience of SCADA, PLC Systems and Variable Speed Drives
- An awareness of safety legislation and procedures and quality systems.
- Ability to work both in a team and independently under general supervision.
- Knowledge of automotive engine and gearbox technology an advantage
