DESCRIPTION:
Based on a very attractive University campus, this Technical Centre was established in 2005  bringing together the best of European talent and expertise  in whole vehicle development . Employing 250 Engineers and Specialists it is now regarded as an engineering centre of excellence.  Over £85 million has been invested in the Centre since its foundation with plans for further with headcount growing to 350 this year and into next. Engaged in conventional IC engine, hybrid and electric powered vehicle development, the Centre is located in Coventry, commutable from Birmingham, Leicester, Warwick, Milton Keynes, Northampton.  A very exciting opportunity has now been created for an Engineer to lead the team delivering Body & Trim Craftsmanship across a range of vehicle programmes.

VAC REQ:
The Body & Trim Craftsmanship Lead Engineer reports into the Group Chief Engineer and leads a team of Specialists engaged in delivering quality targets and attributes for a range of new vehicle programmes. The role has responsibility for process improvement and ensures procedures and quality standards are clearly communicated and actioned. The job holder will define, develop and manage projects autonomously with minimal need for support from a Chief Engineer.
This is a multi-faceted role with responsibility for the following Body & Trim Craftsmanship disciplines:
• Benchmarking of competitor vehicles.
• Target setting.
• Optical & Perceived Quality.
• Cubing reference models.
• DM / DVA.
• Cubing Maturation Models
• "A" Class Surfacing modifications.

REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates will need to be Degree or similarly qualified in an appropriate Engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years experience in the automotive industry with a good record of leading teams of Engineers . Experience in all or some of the listed Body & Trim Craftsmanship disciplines will be required along with the willingness and ability to travel overseas on a regular basis. Personal attributes needed include strong numeracy and literacy, good logical reasoning and the ability to overcome cultural barriers.
