Calibration Engineer

We require a calibration engineer to work in the Test Equipment Department. The department produces and maintains special purpose test equipment used in the both development and production testing of our manufactured aircraft products.

This ranges from simply controlled electrical drives to complex, fully automatic, freestanding, servo hydraulic and servo electric production test machinery. All such machinery is conceived, designed, manufactured and commissioned on site and the vacancy exists amongst this team of engineers to calibrate and, in some cases, repair said equipment.

As part of the role you will undertake routine diagnosis and repair of day-to-day faults arising in equipment as follows:
Precision Measuring Transducer
Analogue electronics
Digital Electronics
Relay logic and PLC logic controller
Closed Loop servo-electric/servo-hydraulic control systems
Hydraulic systems
Rudimentary pneumatics
Electrical Drives and controls equipment
Proprietary equipment i.e. oscilloscopes, pen plotters, function generators, voltmeters

You will carry out routine annual calibration and checks of the above equipment which will involve the disassembly and re-assembly of machinery and accurately record / maintain calibration records for the purpose of customer auditing.

- Experience in all aspects of analogue electronics (particularly low frequency (20 KHz) linear, precision analogue circuit design
- Able to read circuit diagrams and fault find down to component level
- Experience in the calibration of transducers/sensors sensing distance, linear/rotational speed, pressure, torque, angular displacement, acceleration, etc.
- Rudimentary pneumatic knowledge would be an advantage.
- Good electronic repair/soldering skills
- Mechanical Fitting skills would be an advantage
- Computer literate e.g. experience of the more common Microsoft products
