We are recruiting for an Drive Train Design Engineer on a 6-month contract based in Wolverhampton.

THE COMPANY

Turner Powertrain Systems is part of the UK Caterpillar Group located in Wolverhampton (West Midlands). They are a market leader in the design, development, manufacture, sales and support of off-highway transmissions for Backhoe Loaders, Telescopic Material Handlers and 4-9 tonne Site Dumpers.

THE ROLE

As Drive Train Design Engineer, you will be responsible for fully contributing to solving technical problems while growing your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor.
The Small Drive train team has engineering responsibility for all for Advanced Components Systems Division (ACSD) small transmissions. To support their needs to increase their responsiveness to OEM customers, accelerate the business cost reduction plans and develop solutions to resolve current product design issues.

Responsibilities of the role include:
Development, integration and validation of design changes supporting current production transmissions.
Ensuring, timely, response to resolve field issues and address manufacturing concerns.
This will involve developing concepts to meet critical customer requirements, effective CPPD with various suppliers to ensure an optimised design is developed.
The role will include release and implementation of drawings through the appropriate Engineering release systems.
Pro/Engineer experience required with 3 years of drive train or driveline systems design experience.


THE PERSON

Education/Experience:
Mechanical Engineering Degree.
Off-highway machine experience, desirable.
Experience of driveline development, design, installation and validation
Excellent Pro-E skills.
In depth knowledge engineering to release processes.
Certified 6Sigma Green Belt, desirable.
Ability to self-direct but also work effectively in a diverse team environment.
