Diesel Emissions Aftertreatment Team Leader

The Diesel Emissions After treatment team is responsible for the specification, development and delivery of cost effective emissions after treatment systems enabling diesel engines to meet the ever tightening legislative tailpipe emissions standards. The role will require the successful candidate to lead the development of after treatment systems and as such entails close co-operation with the engine calibration, exhaust development teams and with suppliers. Key responsibilities will include:
- Creation of project plans from the After treatment Generic, reflecting scope and ensure integration with Calibration, Exhaust and Certification plans.
- Development of targets documentation.
- Manage parts supply from suppliers/Exhausts according to agreed plan (on behalf of After treatment, Calibration and Development Teams).
- Manage instrumentation of after treatment systems.
- Collation of gateway deliverables input for after treatment using project evidence books.
- Assist in updating quality documentation - Failure Mode Avoidance.
- Proactively support the development of diesel emissions after treatment systems.
- Undertake functional testing of components using vehicles and engines, and computer simulation of performance to develop diesel emissions after treatment systems.
- Lead and collaborate with suppliers, research groups and consultants in the development of new bench test procedures and analytical/simulation tools for after treatment hardware in-line with GPDS principles.
- Support the on-going after treatment strategy development.

Skills Required:
Experienced in the selection, validation and sign-off of components. A motivated self-starter with proven project management skills and able to make decisions which are in the best interest of the business. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Knowledge and application of failure mode avoidance tools and techniques. A good working knowledge of PCS and GTDS. Excellent computer skills, MS Office, MS Access, MS Project and Matlab. Possess a valid UK driving licence.

Skills Preferred:
Knowledge and experience of diesel after treatment component and system functions and development. Knowledge and experience of diesel emissions and OBD requirements and testing (engine test-bed and vehicle). Knowledge and experience of emissions/after treatment simulation methods and techniques. Knowledge and experience of powertrain system development and testing.

Education Required:
A degree in an appropriate technical discipline, e.g. chemical engineering, engineering, chemistry.

Education Preferred:
A higher degree in a relevant field, e.g. catalysis, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, engineering.
