For nearly two decades our client has ensured that customers from all sectors meet, or even exceed, their targets by drawing on their unique blend of design, engineering and manufacturing capabilities. Specialising in Transmission Technology, supplying the Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, Marine and Motor Sports Sectors
Based in Berkshire they are now looking for a Heat Treatment Department Manager to manage the resources including all staff and machinery, in the Heat Treat Department.

As the Heat Treatment Manager you will be responsible for, managing and being accountable for all activities of the Heat Treatment department, including Shop Peening and NDT.
You will plan and manage the introduction of positive changes in the Heat Treatment department improving performance through continuous process improvement and team building and ensure all quality targets, and delivery dates are met.
You will also ensure that the department expenditure is kept within the budget.

Tasks will include:

Managing all staff within the Heat Treatment department ensuring all staff know what is expected of them on a weekly basis
Work closely with the HR department to recruit and appoint staff as necessary and to resolve all personnel issues, including induction of new starters.
Appoint and work with department Team Leaders
Carry out the annual Performance Management Reviews for all staff.
Carry out probation reviews as required for new employees.
Attend Quality reviews with the Quality Manager to review scrap and reworks and issue corrective action reports
Ensure that all machinery is properly maintained and calibrated.
Provide the resource required, people and machines, to meet the delivery, quality and cost schedules.
Ensure that all machines have a utilization rate of over 75%. (To be specified more clearly).
Regularly review capital requirements and present good arguments for investment.
Work closely with Engineering to develop processes and tooling.
Ensure that the backlog does not exceed the target and put in place recovery plans when the backlog is too high.
Provide induction training to new staff and on going training to all staff as required.
Ensure that all Health and Safety standards are maintained and all Health and Safety procedures and checks are undertaken.
Work with the Health and Safety committee to promote a safe and healthy culture
Observe the Health and Safety rules at all times, and ensure employees maintain Health and Safety standards.
Ensure that all company procedures are adhered to at all times
To carry out any reasonable additional duties as requested by management.

The successful candidate will also work in conjunction with the Chief Metallurgist to ensure all process and quality standards are adhered to.
