Senior Design Engineer

Williams Hybrid Power Ltd (WHP) has developed a novel, patented electromechanical composite flywheel system that provides a high-power, cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for mobile or stationary energy recovery and storage.
The company's first application of the technology was in the highly competitive and extremely harsh environment of Formula One racing. Through development of a flywheel for Williams F1's Kinetic Energy Recovery System, WHP has proved its world-class engineering capabilities in the composite flywheel field as well as radically improving aspects of the technology in the process.
They are currently recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer to join our growing team.
Duties include
-Component schemes and first level analysis
-Component FMEA
-Complete and release detailed drawings
-Work with suppliers, inspection and build to deliver prototype parts for test and development
-Work with test and development to formulate validation plans and feed the results back into component FMEAs
-Resolve component concerns
Qualifications
-Relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience
Experience
-Design for a volume production OEM
-Design of powertrain components for automotive or rail applications
-Knowledge of relevant production processes, materials and assembly techniques
-Knowledge of relevant quality systems and tools such as DFA, DFM and Design for low cost production.
Skills
-NX an advantage
-Analysis using Abaqus an advantage
-Composites an advantage
-Solid modelling and detail drafting capabilities essential
