Lead Engineer

£40k - 50k per year + Salary to £50K depending on experience
Working across a broad range of building and civil engineering clients, this West Midlands based manufacturer offers a wealth of history in products and materials, design and fabrication and installation on site. Continued success has generated the need for the company to bring in a recognised Chief Engineer in order to bolster the business and strengthen the team.
Personal requirements:
- Degree qualified in either Civil / Structural engineering.
- Membership of a professional engineering body
- Typically a seasoned professional with post graduate experience in
Structural Steel, concrete and GRP for use in the Infrastructure, Utilities, Rail and Metalwork industries.
- Proven project management of highway structure projects or tasks up to 2M and delivery to programme and budget in a safe environment.
- Strong minded and committed, able to embody vision and engage people in the delivery of that vision.
- Has the ability to work successfully at a senior level and constructively challenge at all levels to influence and shape the strategy for the business without legitimate authority.
- Able to travel as required by the position including internationally
Key accountabilities:
Act as the technical focal point for designated activities with specific responsibility for the management and
oversight of the associated engineering activities
Producing or overseeing technical documents and reports
Producing and developing sound and innovative design solutions to meet client requirements
Ensure that suitable HandS practices in the structural steel design / installation / inspection/ investigation
environment are followed
Good communication and report writing skills
Participation in proposal efforts and budget preparation
Knows how to prepare standard discipline deliverables
Knows how to perform structural steel and reinforced concrete analysis and designs
Be able to technically support the welding Engineer
Be familiar with computerized 2D and 3D structural model generation and analyses
Understands standard contract requirements and scope as they relate to construction related work
Knows how to coordinate technical issues within the Infrastructure, Utilities, Rail and Metalwork disciplines
Familiar with advanced dynamic load analyses, and related structural design.
Interprets and verifies UK/European industry standards,
