My client is a leading clean power systems company. Their proprietary clean fuel and clean power technologies provide solutions to the difficult environmental and energy supply challenges being faced by governments and industry.

They are looking to appoint Embedded and Senior Embedded Control System Engineers who will be responsible for the design and development of control systems for modular stacks and systems.

Further responsibility for System software design, embedded software development, System integration, Fault finding, Diagnostics, Analysis and reporting of in-service events and development of necessary PC based applications.

  • Technical evaluation of programme deliverables, interpret requirements and specifications, identify problem areas and clarify through effective internal and external communication
  • Determine requirements for software architecture. Advise on Controller specific hardware requirements. Develop Controller software conforming to company guidelines. Write test applications for system development. Assist with system commissioning. Conduct fault diagnostics, bug fixes and impact analyses for changes.
  • Liaise with company and external representatives to meet all contractual and specification requirements and coordinate project activities.
  • Prepare documentation following the product lifecycle - Functional Design Specs, System Design Specs, User Manuals, Test/commissioning procedures etc.,
  • Implement, test and document embedded controller software for applications using appropriate tools and work with colleagues from other departments, customers etc.

    Qualification and experience
  • You will have a degree or equivalent and musthave experience of working with embedded controllers written in C/C++
  • You must have experience with designing and building control systems using microcontrollers or DSP technology.

    Skills
  • Understand and implement real time control Hardware and Software
  • Excellent understanding of C/C++
  • Good working knowledge of comms protocols inc. RS232, SPI and CAN
  • PC Windows OS based programming and hardware interfacing
  • Good Understanding of Object Orientated Programming
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Methodical approach
  • Working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink, Visual Studio and C# is desirable
