Part of a global organisation, this well established manufacturer of luxury vehicles is currently enjoying success within the market place. They have invested over £200m in new equipment and are at the forefront of modern manufacturing practices.
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Buyer on a 12-month contract based in Coventry.
As Senior Buyer, you will support a high profile business strategy deployment to represent the purchasing function within a fast paced cross functional team in delivering a critical sourcing project.
The individual will need to possess a wide breadth of experience and capability to successfully lead and co-ordinate the full scope of requirements to support a flawless project delivery. There will be an expectation for the individual to travel frequently around the UK to ensure all aspects of the supply chain and project delivery are addressed accordingly. A high focus on cost management and control will be required, and involvement in Contractual Negotiations will be a key aspect of the project. Full cross functional involvement will be essential to ensure a complete understanding of project priorities and needs.
As the Purchase Department lead representative, you will be required to collate project status reports and present the status/issues to the wider project team and senior management within the business. Regular 1st and 2nd tier supplier visits will be required to ensure successful implementation of the project needs within a very aggressive project delivery timeframe.
Skills Required:
* Strong Cross-Functional working experience and holistic business understanding required.
* Excellent organisation and project management skills essential.
* A background in understanding manufacturing process` and environments critical.
* Strong commercial acumen required as the position will involve being the primary point of commercial contact between the company and the primary 1st and 2nd suppliers.
* Experience of contract management required to facilitate innovation of existing contracts and creation of new contracts where required with the support of their Legal Dept.
* Ability to operate within a fast paced challenging environment required to ensure flawless project delivery with a very aggressive timeframe.
* Negotiation skills.
* Report generation and presentation skills, confidence and strength of character.
* Experience of working as a buyer preferable and experience of physically working within a manufacturing role also preferable.
Applicants must be educated to PRINCE 2 Project Management including CIPS and an Engineering or Manufacturing qualification.
