Quality Inspector / CMM Operator - Zeiss Calypso
Northampton, Northamptonshire, England

Our Client designs, develops, and manufactures powertrain components for use within the motorsport industry. They are currently seeking to recruit a Quality Inspector/CMM Operator for a new 6 month contract opportunity.

Reporting to the Inspection Group Leader, the individual will be responsible for the following:

* Using specified sample plans, check mechanical components to ensure parts meet specification for example: sheet metal fabrications, castings, machined components, and carbon fibre.
* Check certificates of conformity and items are correctly part and batch numbered
* Carry out detailed inspection and measurement of first-off samples utilising GDandT
* Program and/or Operate Co-Ordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)
* Compile concession information and create reports / overview, communicate effectively with Manufacturing, Planners and Quality Engineers and the wider business as appropriate
* Maintain computerised inspection for the inspection activities, such as non-conformance reporting.


Essential Requirements:

- MUST be able to use Zeiss Calypso.
- Previous Inspection experience within a low volume high value precision engineering manufacturing environment.
- Experience inspecting parts manufactured for Automotive and / or Aerospace.
- Capable of using standard inspection equipment and able to read engineering drawings.
- Programming or Experience Operating CMMs (Zeiss Calypso, Umess, PCDMIS or Mitutoyo Cosmos software)
- Use standard testing tools, (calipers, depth gauge, microscope)
- Craft Apprenticeship and/or Mechanical NVQ
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly organised with good attention to detail
- Ability to rigorously follow defined processes
- Ability to flex and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work alone or as a member of a team

Desirable Attributes:

- Have critical thinking skills and be able to read and communicate with CMM reports
- SAP experience
- Appropriate training in inspection methods - 1st Principal
- MS Office skills
