They are looking to appoint to a newly created role for an Operations Manager who will lead and manage an Engineering and Manufacturing/Assembly operation to ensure the timely production of sound cost effective equipment in accordance with customer requirement, ensuring budgets, materials manufacturing requirements and delivery schedules are met.

Main tasks will include (but not be limited to):

  • Plan, manage and prioritise the workload of the Engineering and Manufacturing Department in meeting all deadlines and targets.
  • Ensure effective liaison with all other areas of the business to support the completion of all contracts to customer satisfaction
  • Liaise with Manufacturing personnel to ensure designs are produced and conform to customer requirements.
  • Ensure adherence by everyone to all relevant standards and practices.
  • Lead value analysis activity to ensure cost effectiveness of existing and new designs
  • Keep a watching brief on all relevant harmonised EU and ISO standards affecting the product sales within the EU countries and worldwide.
  • Ensure subordinate adherence to the relevant company standards and practices.
  • Ensure engineering drawings are in accordance with manufacturing requirements, including suppliers, as required.
  • Ensure the design is delivered to plan and to budget.
  • Project manage contracts, controlling Engineering, Buying and Manufacturing disciplines such that project budgets and timescales are met.
  • Provide technical support to customers as required.

    This position will entail international travel, customer interface to ensure products truly meet customer needs, providing high degrees of uptime, reliability, serviceability and maintainability.

    The successful candidate will be degree qualified, or equivalent, and ideally have experience in rail or off-road (eg quarry, mining etc) equipment operating in hostile environments, though consideration will also be given to candidates with a good aptitude and propensity to apply existing skills to this arena.

    Benefits package will include an attractive salary, profit related bonus paid twice annually together with a contributory pension scheme, 33 days leave per annum and healthcare plan.
