Engineering Project Manager – Sustaining, Cheltenham, Upto £43k
A global aerospace Group is seeking an Engineering Project Manager – Sustaining to support their aviation manufacturing activity from Cheltenham. Salary is indicated upto £43k + benefits.
The ideal candidate will possess the unique ability to solve real-time, sometimes critical, customer facing issues by leveraging TOPS 8D & Six
Sigma methodologies along with an engaging & collaborative mindset. The right candidate will strive to resolve issues impairing the operations/fulfillment teams’ ability to deliver while maintaining sound engineering decision-making fundamentals. You would work directly with internal
and external customers.
Responsibilities will include:
- Direct and coordinate the activities of Engineers / Technologists in product improvement and perform failure investigations resulting from major in service incidents
- Leads efforts to establish and implement long-term corrective actions to recurring in house discrepancies
- Act as investigator in charge for safety related in-service incidents
- Help to develop and coordinate global group resources for sustaining and Manufacturing Review Board (MRB) activities
- Act as the site focal for customer technical inquiry resolution and shop floor support issues
- Lead efforts to identify and implement changes to reduce the recurring costs of components and assemblies, obtaining customer approval as required
- Provide “lessons learned” inputs to new programs entering the design process
- Works with Design / Project Engineers and technical publications sources to assure completion of necessary changes in data to close corrective actions
- Reports and presents data and findings to management, customers, etc..
You will have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or qualified to an equivalent level. In addition, have a proven track record of collaboration / team building; have a demonstrated ability to continually improve.
In addition you will have significant experience/training with six sigma problem-solving methodology and experience in a leadership role within engineering as well as having experience of influencing teams outside direct management authority.
Knowledge of processing, precision machining, castings, forgings, military and industry standards and familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems is required. In addition, you will have working knowledge of aircraft hydraulic and actuation components.
