An exciting opportunity to join TRW Automotive, a world-class team responsible for the design and delivery of 10 million high-performance brushless motor-drive units per year for automotive electric steering. TRW is one of the world's largest producers of electric steering systems supplying a wide range of vehicle manufacturers including VW, GM, Ford, Peugeot, Renault and Fiat. The motor-drive is designed in TRW's prestigious technical centre in Solihull, with over 40 years of high tech RandD combining the best aspects of university research and industry.

The design of electric steering systems is extremely challenging requiring safety-critical servo-drive performance at automotive costs. TRW leads the field in many areas of design and research, and employs cutting-edge technologies in their electric motor design, industrialisation and control.

This is a very fast-paced sector requiring sophisticated design and analytical skills. The role is project manage the engineering requirements capture, design and production support for electric steering motors.

What you'll do

- Provide technical project management for the design and industrialisation of electric steering motors
- Work with the lead engineer to ensure all technical requirements are delivered and issues resolved
- Liaise with the customer and/or TRW programme manager to establish specification and deliverables
- Track and evaluate project performance to the agreed milestones, metrics and cost
- Support bid and quote activities
- Ensure TRW business standards for design and development and quality processes are implemented and met
- Analyse production line data to validate requirements and help drive improvements to quality and yield

What we are looking for

Essential:

- Educated to degree standard in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
- Experience of technical lead and/or project management of multi-disciplinary engineering projects
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Flexibility to adapt in an exciting fast paced working environment

Desirable:
- Good knowledge of ISO26262 standards
- Experience of engineering safety critical systems and structured requirements management
- Familiarity with electric drive systems and motor control
Self motivated and able to work without direct supervision
