Senior Software Engineer (Radar) - TRW Electronics, Cirencester - £Excellent

This exciting role is for a high calibre software engineer to show their talent and join a development team responsible for delivering innovative Driver Assist Systems to a variety of prestigious vehicle manufacturers. Already supplying market leading 77GHz radars, the team is currently developing next generation 24GHz radars for both truck and car markets. The radars enable a number of advanced safety features improving both driver safety and comfort. TRW is one of the world's largest producers of safety systems supplying a wide range of global vehicle manufacturers. The embedded software for these products is designed in TRW's technical centre at Cirencester, in the heart of the Cotswolds.
This is a fast-paced sector requiring strong design and problem-solving skills to support projects with short design cycle times and high production volumes. The successful applicant will become a major contributor to a highly motivated software development team developing software solutions to meet demanding safety and quality standards.

What you'll do

The position is for a senior software engineer working at the firmware level. You will determine the best way to use the features and peripherals of new micro-controllers. You will develop embedded software using C language and assembler. You will be expected to undertake software design tasks with the minimum of supervision. You will be responsible for:

- Developing low level code interfacing to the electronics
- Commissioning new micro-controllers and debugging the hardware
- Developing built-in self test capabilities

What we are looking for

Essential:

- Educated to degree standard in relevant discipline
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Real-time, embedded C skills with hands-on debugging experience
- Good practical understanding of embedded software development methods and tools
- Proven micro-controller level development experience
- Experience in developing robust, real-time software for low cost, high volume manufacture
- Flexibility to adapt in a fast paced working environment

Desirable:
- Experience in developing software for the automotive industry
- Experience of CAN communication protocol and related test tools
