Material Planner
Desford, Leicestershire, England
£11 - 12 per hour + ?11 - ?12 per hour
This client provides fully integrated supply chain solutions that incorporate information technology, warehouse management, transportation management, inventory management and product support. Reporting to the Strategic Planning Supervisor this role is to ensure that the correct parts/materials are ordered and received in time and in sufficient quantities to support after market parts requirements, while maintaining accurate and proper inventory levels
Initiate, co-ordinate and participate in activities to ensure optimum inventory levels
Ensure that material requirements are scheduled for delivery from suppliers
*Ensure that deliveries take place correctly
*Be involved with, when required, the scheduling and control of onward ship material
*Make regular contact with suppliers
*Supplier visits will be necessary
*Monitor status of ordered parts/materials and expedite or de-expedite delivery of items
*Identify and resolve problems
*Report daily on shortages
*Requires prior experience in or knowledge of planning, scheduling, inventory control and/or purchasing
*Effective communication skills
*Ideally possess a technical or commercial qualification
*Experience in logistics
