Production Manager
Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England
£40k - 50k per year + circa £45,000 + excellent benefits
Designers and manufacturers of Ruggesdised Equipment since 1975, the company has developed a range of products specifically designed for use in areas where harsh environmental conditions prevail and where there is a risk of explosion due to the presence of flammable atmospheres.
As a result of an internal promotion the company is now seeking to appoint a Production Manager who will be responsible for the company`s manufacturing, Lean implementation and cost reduction initiatives to ensure that manufacturing processes are developed to achieve aggressive cost down and quality improvement targets. It will manage the planning and delivery of defined annual cost savings by identifying, analyzing and driving process change and development in a demanding environment
Key Accountabilities:
- Drive lean implementation to deliver cost performance, visual factory and standardization
- Manage 120 plus direct staff to deliver productivity and sales targets.
- Facilitate kaizen events to deliver quick hit improvement activities
- Develop Lean culture
- Work in an ISO9001 environment, upholding the ethics of the company s quality standards
- Monitor OEE and improve machine/equipment availability
- Resolve daily manufacturing issues and concerns
- Optimise and improve processes with Continuous Improvement activities
- Co-ordinate between the Engineering and Production teams
- Develop, repair and rework schemes for products including containment actions and concessions
- Ensure all Health and Safety and Environmental procedures are adhered to
- Manage the Risk Assessment review and update processes
- Perform any other duties reasonably required to achieve departmental and/or Company objectives as deemed appropriate by the Operations Director
- Work within a cross-functional team responsible for the total life cycle of manufacturing projects
- Other duties as may be required
Experience and Educational Requirements: - A Degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Production Engineering is essential
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role, 2 of which will include production management/leadership experience
Skills - Work within a Continuous Improvement or 6 Sigma environment
- Proven lean and continuous improvement implementation experience
- Ideally have worked in a Six Sigma operation and involved in cost down initiatives
- Good communication skills
- Demonstrable experience of problem solving and analysis
- Excellent PC and IT Skills
- Process driven
- People management skills

- Proven experience gained within low volume high added value machining and assembly processes.
