A successful and expanding automotive tier 1 supplier of suspension and steering components is growing its technical capability and winning major new business.

They currently have an initial 6 month contract opportunity for a Process/Manufacturing Engineer, relating to Change and New Product Introduction.

Reporting to the Project Leader at their site in Darlaston, the key responsibilities include:

- Support the plant by ensuring that all changes, both internal or Customer driven, of components, suppliers or processes are effectively managed on a day to day basis.
- Take actions as necessary to ensure that the supply of components to manufacturing is not compromised and that part obsolescence is avoided.
- Provide support to internal functions on change issues

Duties to include:

- Coordinate, progress and control component, supplier and/or process changes within plant to ensure they are achieved in a timely and best cost effective manner and hence support the company wide performance or quality, cost and delivery of the finished product.
- Ensure that changes being implemented are done so in order to avoid any obsolete stock.
- Ensure that a CRF is raised and actioned promptly where a part number, issue level or supplier has changed.
- Ensure that any DCNs or SREAS are raised and actioned promptly and that the information on SAP is fully maintained.
- Ensure that ENGIS projects are raised and status updated where applicable and the necessary actions are carried out in a timely manner by the relevant persons
- Ensure that all KPIs for the running changes projects are achieved.
- Keep abreast of new trends and thinking and apply as applicable in order to improve the performance and effectiveness of the change coordination function
- Develop and implement strategies within the change coordination function and work with the management team in order to develop the companies strategic plan
- Produce timing plans (using Excel or MS Project)


Role Requirements:

- HNC in Mechanical Engineering as minimum
- Minimum 2 years experience in a change management and or production management environment preferably within the automotive industry.
- Good Awareness of Production Processes (casting , Forging, Assembly)
- Good Awareness of Design and Test process
- Awareness of Basis Customer Quality Release Process (PPAP, PWS)


KPI measures for the Role:

- Value of obsolescence after a change has been implemented
- Cost savings to agreed targets
- Status of the Engis project
- Total cost of change identified and recovered from customer where applicable
- Change Done on time
