Stability Control and Safety Homologation Engineer - 22611 - 25.66 GBP Ltd Co

Supporting homologation to ensure the timely delivery of supporting documentation and guidance to both foundation brakes and Stability Control System (SCS) department whilst working closely with the OEM Automotive Safety Office (ASO). The candidate will also be responsible for:
- Liaising with the lead application and PMST leaders within both the Foundation Brakes and SCS teams and engineers from the OEM product assurance office leader to provide technical support and assist in preparation of supporting documentations for the homologation of the brakes subsystems.
- Managing the robust, planned delivery of homologations to the Gateway requirements of the product assurance office.
- Delivering appropriate elements of the homologation strategy, particularly transition to virtual techniques
- Provide guidance to TVM team regarding self-certification and homologation requirements for world markets.
- Ensure any self-certification tests carried out by external facilities are carried out in a timely and cost effect manner.
- Working closely with the ASO office to define a vehicle "worst case" for any new vehicle or mid life cycle programmes to reduce the number of vehicles required for a witnessed approval.
- Provide technical support for OEM vehicle lines during any witnessed homologation test with any European vehicle certification agency.
Skills Required:
Good communication and presentation skills to represent OEM at meetings with government test authorities. Must be self motivated and enthusiastic with a proactive approach to ensure that any tests /documentation is completed robustly. Ability to communicate at all levels within the company and outside. Good planning skills. Ability to interpret new legal requirements and provide guidance to both the SCS and brakes teams. Liaising with the SCS system supplier to ensure that any supporting documentation required for a homologation test arrives in a timely manner. Compile Self-Certification documentation and any sign-off reports to ensure that any homologation documentation is traceable. Liaison with other process partners including Design, Purchase, Project Team, Manufacturing, Electrical etc. A working knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
Skills Preferred:
Experience of OEM systems, eg Global regulatory Information Database (GRID), would be an advantage.
Experience Required:
Experience of dealing with homologation authorities - preferably in association with the motor industry.
Experience Preferred:
Management of complex projects.
Education Required:
Mechanical engineering or Electronics / instrumentation.
Education Preferred:
Educated to Degree level in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics or a similar discipline.
Additional Information:
Will be Gaydon based but will be required to support Homologation tests at various test venues in the UK and overseas.
