The company is a leading plastics manufacturer supplying automotive OEM`s with a variety of finished products. The company focuses on innovation that enhances individual and social well-being while protecting the natural environment. They are looking to appoint an Engineering Project Manager to manage a busy team of technical specialists (CAD, CEA, Tooling, Validation etc) in a customer focussed environment.

The role will also look after the project costs as allocated by Programme Managers and ensure that all deliverables are on time, to specification and complete in full Main activities will cover:

  • Define Product perimeter : Statement Of Work and Bill of material
  • Analyze Customer Needs and Draw-up PO Specifications
  • Complete Design Study using company standards for prototype / production
  • Ensure design for manufacturing considering development CNQ, PPM, poka-yoke design
  • Make Geometrical Analysis (Craftsmanship : Gap and flushness Tolerances, Datum scheme, GDandT recommendations)
  • Manage internal and external components specifications and drawings
  • Manage and perform risk analysis (DFMEA + Design reviews, Quad Reviews)
  • Validate Design : prototype / production
  • Manages Specifications, manufacturing and validation of the means (injection tools, checking fixtures, test jigs, End Of Arm Tooling )
  • Manages Product validation (functional, geometrical and cosmetic quality)
  • Manages Product tuning (mould tuning, control fixture tuning, tuning loops compliance)

    In addition the role will cover:
  • Project Management
  • Budget management
  • Continuous improvement To succeed in this role, candidates will probably hold a degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or equivalent. You may possibly already be a Chartered Engineer or working to that award.

    Your experience must include at least 3 years of Design engineering in an automotive plastics environment (interiors or exteriors).

    You will also already be a Team Leader and be looking to take your next step into a formal Management role or alternatively be a Design Team or Engineering Team Leader or Manager
