The company is a leading international development partner to the automotive industry. They are looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineer to support day to day process and product elements of manufacture of castings including Project management, FMEA, Control Plan, Manufacturing Instructions and interpretation of process audit and product quality data to prevent problems occurring at source.

Also, responsibility to lead the process of defining and implementing manufacturing solutions for production of high integrity aluminium alloy components. Working with the Technical Manager to lead resolution of issues related to product quality and process stability and implementation of Lean manufacturing techniques.

Please Note this is a 12 month contract initially Duties will include:

  • Assessment of CAD and 2D drawing data for manufacturing feasibility review.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the business and lean manufacturing approach.
  • Generate technical drawings using CAD
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing systems with a view to the justification of change and improvement
  • Define and document the specification covering casting processes and post processing to achieve specified production volumes and performance characteristics of the products.
  • Assist in training operators in the required manufacturing techniques.
  • Support simultaneous engineering and Design For Manufacture (DFM) activities with other sites and external customers.
  • Comply with company quality standards, ISO 9000, TS/2, VDA 6.1 and ISO 14001 Environmental Standard
  • Manage projects using APQP techniques ensuring achievement of costs, timings and quality requirements.
  • Lead multi disciplinary teams to resolve production issues, including all processes utilised in production Qualifications
  • A Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering is essential

    Experience
  • Detailed experimental work, possibly through a higher degree course.
  • Generation of FMEAs, Control Plans and Manufacturing Instructions. Along with competent Project management skills
  • Training operators in manufacturing operations.
  • Conversant with aluminium cast alloy metallurgy and its properties.

    Skills
  • Use of 3D CAD systems.
  • Data manipulation, analysis and presentation.
  • Excellent numerical skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Proven record on New equipment introduction

    Competencies
  • Structured thinking.
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and interrogation of CAD.
  • Conversant with all lean manufacturing techniques.
