They are looking to appoint a Principal Mechanical Engineer to take a key role in product development and contribute to the ongoing success of the company and its products.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide Mechanical design intent / information in support of tenders or contracts.
  • Ensure effective liaison with all other areas of the business to support the completion of all contracts to customers on time, in full.
  • Lead value analysis activities associated with the mechanical products to ensure cost effectiveness of existing and new designs.
  • Provide the required technical support and guidance in pursuit of set objectives and engineering excellence.
  • Work with the Group Mechanical Engineer on the preparation of workload planning for the Department.
  • Fully support the Group Mechanical Engineer in the development and maintenance of a cohesive team identity within the business and to ensure effective liaison with all areas of the business in pursuit of clearly defined team objectives.
  • Liaise closely with Sales Department to ensure designs conform to customer requirements, including applications engineering.
  • Liaise with Manufacturing Department to ensure that designs are produced to customer requirements and are compliant with relevant Company design and manufacturing standards.
  • Other duties as required

    The successful individual will be degree qualified, or equivalent, and ideally have experience in the Railway, Off-Highway or Yellow Vehicles Industries operating in hostile environments, though this is not necessarily required if the candidate demonstrates an attitude and an ability to learn.

    A knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems / diesel engines and transmissions / gearboxes would be a great advantage. Experience on AutoCad 2D and Inventor 3D is essential as this position will involve some design work.
