Instrument & Control Area Engineer
Essex, England

Our client is looking for an experienced Instrument and Control Area Engineer to optimise plant reliability, safety and efficiency in a designated area of the refinery by providing short to long term engineering support within the discipline of expertise.
Provides day-to-day engineering support to the area. Works as part of the area Asset Availability Team (AAT) to optimise equipment availability within the area.

Identifies and scopes area specific work programmes to support area objectives.

Analyses plant breakdowns and recommends actions for improved performance. Includes advising on operating requirements, specification of alternative materials and specification of modifications to plant equipment and systems.

Compiles and analyses area measures and key performance indicators (KPI s) as required. Provides guidance and progresses as appropriate the relevant actions required.

Accountable for identifying and initiating investigations into uneconomic equipment performance. Determines continuous improvement for both the short and long term and implements appropriate solutions.

Reviews inventory requirements for area equipment and advises changes required.

Advises on non-inventory procurements requirements.

Liaises with warehouse and procurement personnel on specification of equipment requirements.
Technical competence within engineering discipline (Degree level qualification or comparable; Chartered status preferred)

Proficient in the use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to collate and analyse data.

Ability to work closely within a multifunctional team recognising and balancing area needs against functional requirements.

Demonstrated competency as defined by the Refinery Professional competency maps for Levels I - H.
