Manufacturing Project Engineer
Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England

A recognised leading manufacturer of industrial diesel engines.
This role is vital to implement and deliver machine installation projects, allowing effective and quality production of processes and products. Working as part of a team of 11 project engineers, the position holds responsibility for providing technical expertise and project leadership specifically in the field of manufacturing assembly facilities and processes, on New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Improvement projects. The individual will be a key contributor capable of guiding and influencing other teams in their sphere of expertise.
This role monitors and maintains manufacturing processes that deliver against People, Quality, Velocity and Cost metrics assisting the business. Responsibilities include:

Involvement in 6 Sigma projects / Rapid Improvement Workshops and Value Stream Transformations / Kaisan events
Full leadership management of some 6 Sigma projects
Provide weekly / bi weekly updates on projects to management team
Project manage cross functional activities and teams
Be directly engaged with other parts of the business at all levels to ensure project delivery against set deliverables
Assign tasks and monitor the quality of the work of the project team members
Breakdown response may occasionally required
This role requires strong attention to detail, and the focus and commitment to see projects successfully through to fruition.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Essential:
Mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering degree or equivalent experience
Competent Manufacturing Engineering experience such as assembly test and finish

Desirable:
Previous experience in projects with Capital outlay of high value
Both CPS and 6 Sigma Green Belt trained.
Engine manufacturing experience or equivalent
