Our client is a leading automotive component manufacturer of BIW components and sunroof assemblies. This six month contract Health and Safety Advisor role is to provide support for all Health and Safety activities required to be conducted to assist the company in the attainment of the OHSAS18001 Occupational Health and Safety Standard and the implementation of best practice safety initiatives. The position will require effort across a range of activities and may require additional duties from time-to-time.

Conducting general risk assessments throughout the company to identify improvement activities and training needs and feedback of findings to departmental/area managers, the completion of specific Work Related Upper Limb Disorder (WRULD) and Manual Handling assessments in order to identify medium/long term company targets for risk reduction, conducting Associate training for a range of OHandS issues in order to proactively encourage accident and incident reduction ratios, ie COSHH, DSEAR, Emergency Planning, Confined Entry, Workplace transport and HAV etc, maintaining and improving the current contractor database to ensure compliance with safety standards and obtaining PL and EL insurance documentation and assist with the compilation and implementation of HSE procedures, policies and other documentation to ensure the effective maintenance and improvement OHSandE Management system in relation to the ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 standards.

A NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health is preferred as is a demonstrable level of knowledge and experience in industry ideally automotive. You will also have a basic knowledge and understanding of UK Health and Safety legislation and best practices.

In addition, you must be able to work on your own initiative and recognise priorities, be flexible in terms of approach to working hours, be able to demonstrate characteristics of team-work, attitude and personality that would enhance current team moral and performance and be positive to concerns/awkward situations, respectful of peers and managers and have a high level of self-confidence.
