Quality Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to provide the necessary focus on prototype component quality activities to ensure robust delivery of units to our customers. The individual will support the prototype teams with the skills required to successfully apply quality and problem solving tools and will be in permanent contact with critical suppliers. The role will also require representing engineering quality and interfacing with the customer s engineering/quality functions.

With additional technical centres and multiple plants throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas the focus of the role is very much global, giving the chance to influence products worldwide.
What you ll do

Visit, audit and approve prototype suppliers and production suppliers for the capability to manufacture prototype components.
Help suppliers to understand the key requirements.
Drive problem resolutions by appropriate methodologies such as 8D.
Provide focus on robust identification of Key Characteristics, Prototype Control Plans and flow through to the APQP tool set.
Provide a focus on quality planning during early stages of prototype development and a managed transition with Supplier Development Engineering as projects progress.
Work with the Prototype Department to ensure that prototype builds have proper quality planning.
Understand and plan for any customer specific engineering quality requirements.
What we are looking for

Essential:
Degree level qualified in a relevant engineering discipline with practical engineering experience
Strong manufacturing focus and understanding of quality tools
Good problem solver with experience of different methods
Willingness to travel
Good communication (presenting and interfacing) skills.
Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment and with multi-disciplinary systems.

Desirable:
Six Sigma certified
