This is a dynamic SME that manufactures precision machined components that are assembled into complete systems. Their products are used globally as a product of choice within the automotive industry by major OEM brands. The business is now looking to strengthen its management team by recruiting an experienced automotive Quality Improvement Manager.



The successful candidate will join a small executive team reporting directly to the MD and be responsible for continuous improvement and plant / supplier quality initiatives across the business. The role does require a full understanding of TS16949 and significant first tier automotive experience in a low - medium volume, precision assembly and test environment.

The main responsibilities and duties of the role will be:


the management of a busy Quality and Metrology Department.


working closely with sales, engineering and supply chain functions to develop and undertake APQP procedures appropriate to customer requirements

conduct appropriate audits to TS 16949 and ISO9001

liaise with customers as required to provide support for product quality issues in the field

have demonstrable experience implementing a range of continuous improvement techniques both internally and externally with suppliers

combine determination and resolve with diplomacy and tact in order to influence peers and non-reports to achieve desired outcomes

use tactical and strategic abilities to resolve daily operational issues as well as develop a departmental strategy in support of the overall business plan

demonstrate presentations skills sufficient to lead supplier forums and reviews

Experience and qualifications:


educated to HNC / Degree level in either Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality disciplines

management experience ideally in an automotive tier 1 environment with responsibility for the Quality function

previous experience within a precision engineering environment, or low volume/high value batch assembly would be beneficial
