Based on a very attractive University campus, this Centre of Excellence is building on its growing reputation for Electric Vehicle (EV) development. It has plans to expand it operation and increase the number of talented Engineers and Specialists it employs, working on new projects incorporating cutting edge technologies. This has created an opportunity for a Battery Technology Test Engineer to join the team. This role based in Coventry commutable from Birmingham, Warwick, Leicester, Gaydon, Milton Keynes, Leamington, Northampton.

A new battery development laboratory is being established at the Technical Centre. Part of the job will be to support bench work and conducting data analysis on the results of ageing, degradation, performance and thermal testing. Write reports detailing conclusions and recommendations. Another aspect of the role will be to assist in the development of a battery technology road map, contributing from a early stage offering the opportunity to influence the future direct of this technology. The job also offers the opportunity to work on collaborative projects with other enterprise, academic or research institutions, so any experience of making applications for grant aid from Government would be a particular advantage. This is a primarily Coventry based job with occasional overseas travel.

Candidates will need to have a first degree in Chemistry, Physics, Physical Sciences. A MSc or PhD would be preferred. One to 2 years industry experience would be ideal but recent graduates will also be considered. Must have some exposure to test or experimentation in Li-ion batteries or similar electro-chemical field with a good background in data analysis, development of theories and application of test data in new programmes.
