Principal Vehicle Exteriors Designer

A long established Indian passenger car and commercial vehicle manufacturer with ambitious plans to increase its penetration into European and ROW markets. Now embarked on the design of new vehicles at its Coventry Design Studio and offering an opportunity for an energetic and talented Principal Design Engineer to join the team for an initial 12 month contract.
In this role you will be working on new vehicle Exterior concept designs leading a small team of designers. Utilising ICEM, ALIAS, RHINOS or similar you will also need to have excellent 2D digital presentation skills. Highly creative and with a good eye for detail you will be guiding physical and 3D teams in the development of your projects, developing the Exteriors of the future. You will be presenting future design concepts to Senior Management using state of the art presentation techniques. You`ll be guiding the digital modelling team in the development of your design project in Clay and Hard models and working with the CAD based surface development team in the refinement of design themes. Leading show car development including model build and assembly you will be working cross functionally with Engineering and Programme Control groups to ensure approved design themes are maintained throughout the engineering development phases. There will also be the requirement to travel extensively to India and other overseas destinations.
Candidates will need to be Degree qualified in product, industrial or automotive design and have a proven track record, having worked for at least 5 years in Design Studio environments. Must be bright, enthusiastic, creative, self motivated with the ability to overcome cultural barriers and inspire a team.
