An operating division who design, manufacture and supply of electronic/electrical products and sub systems in power, defence, rail and aerospace markets.

This role is based in Staffordshire, close to the M6 / M42 and is commutable from Stafford, Burton Upon Trent, Lichfield, Tamworth and Walsall.
An opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join the Underwater Measurement Systems division within the Software team. Reporting to the Software Team Leader, the successful candidate will carry out a vital role within a dedicated team developing real time and analysis software for Underwater Measurement ranges and vessel degaussing systems. The candidate will work closely with other project members developing solutions to successfully meet project objectives. The successful candidate will work on a range of software engineering activities from bid to delivery in the following areas.
Data acquisition systems and control systems for naval applications
Underwater Signature Analysis (electromagnetic and acoustic) and Acoustic signal processing
You will be educated to a minimum of degree level in computer science, engineering or a numerate scientific discipline with relevant software engineering experience. You will have programming skills and experience in C or C++ as well as a familiarity with programming in one or more of the following environments: Windows, Linux or QNX 6 Neutrino. You will have experience of Software/Hardware integration and be experienced in producing software in accordance with ISO9001.

You will have experience in two or more of the following areas: data acquisition, real time programming, sensor interfacing, LAN Networking / TCP/IP and hardware interfacing

With good written English and software specification writing skills, you will ideally have experience in Visual Studio and MFC with some experience of either UML (or a similar design methodology), or signature processing, or Simulink or modern control theory.

Ideally, you will have presentation and training skills and be confident in a customer facing role
