An operating division who design, manufacture and supply of electronic/electrical products and sub systems in power, defence, rail and aerospace markets.

This role is based in Staffordshire, close to the M6 / M42 and is commutable from Stafford, Burton Upon Trent, Lichfield, Tamworth and Walsall.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will join a dedicated group of engineers that is challenged with the task of delivering robust and cost effective power electronic solutions to a range of niche applications such as submarine power systems, high integrity power supplies, naval propulsion and specialist industrial drive systems.

Applications are sought at Engineer, Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer level. Depending upon the skills and experience of the candidate will depend upon the level of appointment.

Typically, you will be responsible for a wide range of engineering activities covering all stages of the engineering lifecycle; from concept through to verification and validation of production systems. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to develop power electronic solutions that successfully meet with the overall objectives of the project.
Degree qualified or higher in electrical engineering or equivalent, you will have skills and experience in the field of power electronics. You will have a broad understanding of power systems, power converter design and application and an understanding of processes and techniques applicable to high integrity design. You will have a detailed understanding of digital control of asynchronous and permanent magnet machines as well as experience using simulation tools such as MATLAB and Simulink.

You will have a proven track record of product design and verification in a relevant environment with a broad knowledge of other areas of engineering (e.g. systems, mechanical, motors, etc). You will have a good knowledge of best practice design lifecycle process; gated design phases, design reviews, etc.

You will be good in front of customers; willing and able to make presentations.
