This is a 6 month contract position reporting to the Engineering Manager.  As Project Engineer-Weld Engineering you will be responsible for co-ordinating cradle to grave engineering activity within an automotive welding environment.  You will be expected to co-ordinate internal and external resource to achieve all project objectives and to manage/report status of cost, quality and timing for assigned projects.  You must understand modern safety standards and ensure that contractors are designing new equipment in line with this and also that contractors are operating safely whilst on company premises.

Experience of writing software from base is essential and experience of Mitsubishi A&Q Series controllers is desirable (demonstration of capability via alternative PLCs (Omron, Siemens etc) is acceptable.  It is also essential you have experience of interfacing with industry standard devices (ie Robots, Safety Systems) and the ability to program robots is desirable as is a previous track record of successful major project delivery and understanding modern automotive joning techniques and interface screens.  It is also essential you are able to set direction for achieving project objectives.

You must be able to work in a fast paced, team environment with a strong commitment to resolve problems and must have a flexible approach in terms of hours of work (almost all installation/commissioning work will occur outside of normal working hours).  Standard company day shift hours apply but you must be willing to remain flexible to suit an ever changing environement and an integral requirement of this position is a willingness to work overtime when needed, sometimes at short notice, in order to support department objectives, responsibilities and workloads.
