An opportunity currently exists for a Buyer who will join theUK based team, providing support to the Manufacturing Materials category (which includes Petro products, weld wire, paint and most hazardous materials), with a global understanding and a regional focus on EAME (Europe, Africa and Middle East) markets, suppliers, and business units.
Key activities:

Provide leadership for sourcing
Understand and Interface with BU partners.
Understand the global and regional market for the category
Develop and Communicate regional sourcing strategies
Develop strong source plan coverage in Europe, by sub-category
Conduct Request For Proposals as appropriate
Negotiate contracts with suppliers
Develop and execute cost and spend reduction projects
Optimize the size of the regional supply base
Execute Supplier Collaboration Ideas
Participate in and support internal business partner strategy setting and planning
Work with BU partners, attorneys, other purchasing personnel and suppliers
Essential:

Experience is preferred in purchasing, logistics, manufacturing, and/or engineering.
The position requires an undergraduate degree from a college or university or equivalent experience.
A minimum of four years of buying related experience.
Strong Negotiator, able to interpret, analyze and negotiate contractual cost elements
Strategic, analytical, problem solving, and project leadership skill.
Effective communicator, in written and oral form. Fluent in the English and able to effectively communicate with people across the business where English is not the first language
Well-developed interpersonal skills are required in dealing with sensitive issues, and reaching consensus on specific actions.
Functional leadership. Capable of leading teams, suppliers and Business Units to effective solutions.

Desirable:

Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply
Second European language would be advantageous
Experience of using 6 Sigma Techniques
