This company leads the world in integrated engine and powertrain solutions from clean sheet design concept through castings, manufacture and vehicle installation to calibration, onboard diagnostics and telemetry.

They are looking to appoint a Principal Engineer to support the development and improvement of the capabilities of the company in line with product group strategy; support gasoline projects and support business development activities when required.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Electronics Engineer to take lead in the development of the power electronics specification and layout for projects within the passenger car sector.

Duties will include:

  • Lead and provide support to both in-house and external projects
  • Lead and support the development of the product group, both technical capabilities and improved working practices
  • Preparation of engineering program quotations
  • Prepare and present technical reports and papers li>Lead the advancement of the technical capability of the product group as well as the development of the product group strategy
  • Contribute to the technical capability of the product group
  • Support business development opportunities, in conjunction with the business development function

    Further responsibility for line management of other engineers as required (including training and personal development), undertaking presentations to internal and external customers and providing support to project teams.

             Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, or international equivalent
  • A postgraduate qualification or chartered status would be a distinct advantage
  • An in-depth understanding of power electronic components and experience of their application to modern variable speed drives

    Experience
  • Ideal knowledge and experience :-
    • Electrical Engineering degree (other degrees and qualifications considered with appropriate experience)
    • Experience with high voltage electrical traction systems knowledge (batteries, electric machines, inverters, DC-DC converters);
    • Experience of controls software or hardware for control systems application, especially CAN, desirable but not essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years power electronics experience, preferably gained within an automotive OEM
