Senior Development Engineer
Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
£30k - 40k per year + Excellent + Pension + PHC
This company leads the world in integrated engine and powertrain solutions from clean sheet design concept through castings, manufacture and vehicle installation to calibration, onboard diagnostics and telemetry.
They are now looking to appoint a Senior Development Engineer to supervise the testing and analysis work on engine and vehicle projects
Duties
- To plan and supervise engine and vehicle build and test
- To work together with designers and development engineers
- To analyse test results, prepare technical reports and create test plans
- To design parts for development testing
- To liaise with program suppliers, internal and external customers
- To monitor project progress and finance
- To support the preparation of engineering program quotations
Responsibilities - Responsible for the quality of the test data, results analysis and report
- Responsible for adhering to or seeking deviation for the development procedures
- Responsible for the clear instruction of staff using the appropriate procedures and forms
- Responsible for feeding back test results to the internal and external customer in a timely manner
- Responsible for drawing conclusions and making recommendations from results obtained subsequent to test work
- Contribute to departmental process development
Qualifications
- A Degree in Engineering, or HND with relevant experience
- Professional qualifications as appropriate
Skills and Experience - A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the field of development engineering
- German language skills, advantageous not essential.
- Able to supervise the work of others
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Familiarisation with Instrumentation techniques and hardware would be an advantage
Competencies - Ability to work on own and as part of a team
- Confidence to communicate effectively at all levels
- Must be self motivated and the possess the drive to complete task in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to strict time constraints.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel to customer sites for both long and short durations (including secondments)
